Our Tuggerah in-house X-ray and radiographer provides our team of Specialist Emergency Physicians with an important diagnostic tool for delivering accurate and rapid diagnosis of your injury or condition.
Our Central Coast radiology service is also open 7 days a week, 365 days a year for walk-in patients who have a valid radiology referral form from their GP or specialist.
While our expert team of emergency specialists is skilled in interpreting imaging scans, we also have a radiologist who can provide you with a formal radiology report, if required.
X-rays
X-rays use invisible electromagnetic energy beams to make images of your internal tissues, bones, and organs on film. Using the latest digital X-ray technology allows us to capture these images and it also gives us the ability to digitally transfer these images.
We use X-rays to see inside your chest, airways, spine, and bones, diagnosing bone injuries, tumours, and other injuries or medical conditions and you’ll receive your X-ray results within minutes.
Ultrasound Scans
Ultrasound scans use high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the inside of your body. Unlike X-rays, ultrasound scans do not use radiation.
We commonly use ultrasound scans to examine the internal organs of the abdomen, such as the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen. Doppler ultrasounds are used to monitor blood flow in your major arteries and veins.
Bedside Ultrasound also assists our emergency specialists as a diagnostic aid in a vast range of clinical settings including heart, lung, abdominal, scrotal, musculoskeletal, ocular, kidney and pregnancy-associated conditions.
Our emergency physicians also employ ultrasound to provide nerve blocks for management of a range of acute injuries and conditions.
CT Scans
A CT (Computed Tomography) Scan uses a combination of X-rays and computer technology to produce detailed images of your internal structures, providing our Specialist Emergency Physicians with an accurate and non-invasive way to see your bones, internal organs and soft tissues.
We use our advanced CT Scan technology to detect, diagnose and monitor a wide range of medical conditions, including kidney stones, gout and bone oedema, so we can identify new fractures in osteoporotic patients.
Some CT Scans may require the injection of contrast dye to highlight the areas we are scanning. Our technicians will explain this procedure prior to your scan and you’ll need to give informed consent.
Radiology Fees
Whether you are a walk-in patient with a radiology referral or you need radiology as part of your EUC Specialist Emergency and Urgent Care consultation, all of our imaging is associated with a Specialist Emergency Physician consultation and therefore our Facility (Gap) fee of $284 applies.
If you are eligible for Medicare, your imaging procedures are covered by Medicare.
Please get in touch with our team if you have a referral for a CT Scan, MRI or an Ultrasound as these scans will require an appointment.
