We charge a Facility (Gap) Fee to all patients who use our Specialist Emergency & Urgent Care Clinic services. This facility fee has been determined based on operating costs and staffing costs with a view to sustainability whilst also meeting the needs of our local community.

This facility fee allows us to run our state-of-the-art EUC facility 365 days a year, staffed by our highly trained and experienced team of Specialist Emergency Physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, and their support teams.

Our Facility (Gap) Fee. This fee is an out-of-pocket expense that cannot be claimed through Medicare or private health insurance. The Facility (Gap) Fee covers:

    • Pathology: Collection of all blood tests and samples.
    • Imaging: Provision of X-rays in-house.
    • All medication dispensed during your visit including intravenous fluids and antibiotics.
    • All wound care management such as dressings, bandages, and sutures.
    • Monitoring and bedside investigations such as urine tests.
    • Aftercare – follow up care or review within 7 days (see below).

Medical Professional attendance fee (Doctors fees). This fee is in accordance with Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and is covered by Medicare (provided you are eligible for Medicare Benefits). The Medicare fee covers:

    • Your comprehensive consultation with the Emergency Medicine doctor/s.
    • Medical referrals and requests for Pathology and Imaging
    • Medical referrals to Specialists for admission to a hospital or outpatient review as required.
    • Procedures such as wound closures, dressings, abscess drainage, suturing wounds, nerve blocks and others.
    • Management of fractures and dislocations as required.
    • Prescription for medications
    • Medical documentation such as Medical or Carers Certificates

Aftercare / Follow up care*

We offer a comprehensive after care service. For 7 days following your discharge from our clinic, you can present for follow up or review for the same condition, at no charge – (excludes consumables)*. We waive the $284 Facility (Gap) Fee. The doctors fee is in accordance with Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and is covered by Medicare (provided you are eligible for Medicare Benefits). This is to ensure you receive the highest quality clinical care at EUC – Specialist Emergency & Urgent Care.

Consumables

If our emergency team recommends the use of any consumables for your ongoing care and recovery we provide you with the convenience of purchasing consumables from our EUC facility for an additional cost.

Infusion Fees

Our Infusion (Gap) Fee is $195. This fee is an out-of-pocket expense that cannot be claimed through Medicare or private health insurance. The Facility (Gap) Fee covers:

    • All infusion related consumables.
    • The administration and monitoring before, during and after your infusion.
    • Ferinject, Zoledronic Acid and Immunoglobulin medication needs to be prescribed by your GP or Specialist and filled at a pharmacy prior to your infusion.
    • The Infusion (Gap) fee excludes:
      • Supply of Ferinject (the Iron Medication), Zoledronic acid, and Immunoglobulins
      • Intravenous antibiotics provided by us is an additional cost of $25.15 (which is the cost from our supplier).

Medical Professional attendance fee (Doctors fees). This fee is determined by the treating doctor during your visit using item numbers from the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). The doctors fee covers:

    • Your consultation with the Emergency Medicine doctor/s.
    • Consent, supervision and counselling about infusion.
    • Medical referrals and requests for Pathology and Imaging
    • Medical referrals to Specialists for admission to a hospital or outpatient review as required.
    • Prescription for medications
    • Medical documentation such as Medical or Carers Certificates

Non-Medicare cardholders

All patients who are not covered by Medicare (including overseas visitors) will be charged the EUC fixed facility fee of $284 as well as the relevant Specialist Emergency Physician consultation fee.

If you require any additional procedures or diagnostic tests (such as radiology and pathology) at EUC, upfront fees will apply.

Receipts will be issued on the day to claim from your health/travel insurance provider.

DVA cardholders

Although radiology and pathology procedures are covered by DVA for DVA cardholders, our Facility (Gap) fee is not covered by DVA and the Facility (Gap) fee applies.

Payment options

We are a cashless clinic. We accept payments via EFTPOS, Debit and Credit Card.
